Events We’re Excited for in March

The sun is shining! Spring is on her way in! There is a bunch to do and a bunch to choose from, so we’ve made things a little easier and handpicked a calendar just for you.
The Bear Radio Calendar is a curated selection of events that’ll keep your curiosity fed, your small talk sparkling and your social schedule brimming with excitement. 
Here’s what we’re up to for the next month…

02 & 31 March

European Month of Photography

The European Month of Photography is Germany’s largest biennial festival of photographic images. This year is EMOPs 10th edition and the theme is ‘Touch’. 100 exhibitions will be on view throughout the month, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the many ways in which photography can present itself. There will be talks, panel discussions, book presentations and more. A special highlight for this year is the exhibition “Touch” at Amtsalon on Kantstraße, where 40 artists living in Berlin will exhibit their works on four floors. All of them dealing with the desire and longing for connection and physical contact.

04 – 18 March

Silent Film Festival

It’s time again for the annual Silent Film Festival! Silent cinema classics return to the big screen in Berlin – accompanied by a live orchestra. The festival takes place with top-class musicians in the Twelve Apostles Church – a space with extraordinary ambience. The 2023 program includes live settings of “The Mysterious Lady” with Greta Garbo, three films by Stan & Olli, “Berlin. Symphony of a Metropolis” by Walther Ruttmann, “The White Slave” and of course, the classic, “Nosferatu”.

08 – 12 March

Berlin-Brandenburg Poetry Slam Championships 2023

Did you know that there was a totally major, very big deal poetry slam that takes place in Berlin every year? We only just found out! For the championship, slam poets from all over the region come together to compete and present their work. The slam promises diverse voices and stories, passionate performances and provide a lively stage. Look forward to a night of poetry, music and emotion.

MaerzMusik

In the spirit of all things acoustic, we’re also excited to share that it’s time for MaerzMusik again! MaerzMusik is a music festival that brings together all forms, genres and styles of music to showcase a the richness of sound from artists from all over the world. There are of course concerts, performances and sound installations as well as workshops, exhibitions, film screenings and discussion series. The festival opening will take place at Haus der Berliner Festspiele and the venue will remain the hub of the festival but there will be events all over the city.
