Events We’re Excited for in April

April can be a little temperamental, but rest assured, we’re here to be consistent. As promised, we are back with a handpicked events calendar just for you.
The Bear Radio Calendar is a curated selection of events that’ll keep your curiosity fed, your small talk sparkling and your social schedule brimming with excitement. 
Here’s what we’re up to for the next month…

08 – 10 April

Easter Knights Festival at the Spandau Citadel

Have you been dying to live out your renaissance dream? Well, good news is that the Easter Knights Festival in the Spandau Citadel is back for its 16th run! Young and old have been invited to join in, laugh, dance, feast (on mead and barley juice of course) and enjoy historical live music shows, theatre and acrobatics, a mystical equestrian FIRE show and more. There will also be a large historical market, a knight camp, plus knight tournaments on horseback and on the ground. And we have an important notice: “Medieval garb” will get you a reduced entrance fee of 11€ vs the 14€ full price. If you are dressed in FULL knights armour, your entrance is FREE.

15 & 16 April

Cherry Blossom Festival

Cherry blossoms are out and the Cherry Blossom Festival is taking takeing place in the Gardens of the World. The festival takes place on the occasion of “Hanami”, which means “looking at blossoms” in Japanese and refers to the traditional Japanese cherry blossom festival.

Visitors can look forward to a wide range of entertainment, including dancing, singing, drumming, arts and crafts, plus culinary delights in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean gardens.

“Human is” Exhibition

The exhibition “Human is” at the Schinkel Pavillon is an exploration of how technology and has influenced what it means to be human. It juxtaposes historical pieces with newer artworks to hold up a mirror to the changing contemporary. “Human Is” uses science fiction as a “spiritual and aesthetic vehicle to mobilize alternative futures, political imagination and a new posthuman ethics.” The exhibition is a group one, and shows the works of Joachim Bandau, Ivana Bašić, Ian Cheng, David Cronenberg, Matthew Angelo Harrison, Suzanne Treister, WangShui and many more.

The Real Show! Live Comedy and Music

One of Berlin’s favourite comedy shows is back this month! each week features some of the best comedians in the city, supported by The Real Show band, (Dave Adams – Keys, Kelly O’Donohue -Trumpet, Seb White – Percussion.) You’ve got comedians, music and cocktails, on a Tuesday night? It doesn’t get much better! The show is free but donations will be taken at the end of the show.

Gallery Weekend Berlin

Each spring, around 50 Berlin galleries open exhibitions by emerging and established artists during Gallery Weekend Berlin, welcoming numerous visitors from around the world to the city. Founded in 2005 by a cooperative of Berlin galleries, it has established itself as a highlight of the international art calendar. Gallery Weekend celebrates galleries and artists within this unique format that provides high-calibre exhibitions and an unparalleled experience of Berlin and its gallery spaces.
