Berlin is a pretty happenin’ city, but staying on top of the huge array of niche and wonderful events that are going on here can sometimes feel like a chore. That’s why we’ve curated a simple and varied calendar just for you.
September signaled the end of Summer and a very busy chapter for our team at Bear Radio. From podcast festivals to original productions, we’ve all been busy growing and strengthening our network. Let’s check in with Jill and Julia, our co-founders, to see what they’ve been up to and ask them what they’ve got lined up in their podcatchers.
Trevor Silverstein is a comedian, actor, and improv artist who hails from NYC. He’s also the co-host of ‘The BOSS’, an improvisational comedy podcast that is part of the Bear Radio Family. We met with Trevor to talk about his inspirations as a comic, his life as a creative, and his involvement in the recent Deutsche Wohnen & Co. Referendum.
NYC native Lory Martinez is the founder and CEO of Studio Ochenta, a multi-lingual podcast production studio based in Paris, France. Since its inception, Studio Ochenta has produced an incredible catalog of podcasts in over 20 languages, many of which sit atop the Apple and Spotify charts. We spoke to her about her personal connection to podcasting, her passion for languages, and her life in Paris.
Each month, we choose one of our favorite podcasting tools and give you the low-down on why we love it oh so very much. This month we’re taking a look at X
“We started Berlin Briefing back in 2017 to provide local news on a daily basis to an audience that doesn’t speak German; or speak/read German well enough to follow the local news.”
“'Never mix facts and opinion!' - that's how I got my journalism degree. It was a golden rule and I don’t recall ever breaking it – that is until I started podcasting two years ago.”
“For me, it’s important to have an affinity for who I’m talking with, everyone on the show is someone whose work I admire, whose opinion I’m really interested to know.”
“I realised that when you just start recording and there is no fanfare or announcing that the performance has begun, people are less inclined to be 'professional' - which can kill the experience. I just want the human.”
